Georgetown Business Association Celebrates 40th in Top Style

The Georgetown Business Association, founded in 1976 to promote businesses in D.C.’s oldest neighborhood and work with the other community groups and the District government, celebrated its 40th anniversary in top style (rooftop style, in fact) at the Rosewood Hotel on 31st Street and the C&O Canal. Among the attendees were members old and new, guests and Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Rick Hindin, co-founder of the all-volunteer business group, was honored by GBA President Sonya Bernhardt and GBA Vice President Hope Solomon at the anniversary reception and introduced by a former GBA president, David Roffman.

Hindin is best known for beginning Britches of Georgetowne, the high-end, classic clothier, which has been resurrected as an online retailer. Roffman is best known for his work at The Georgetowner newspaper, which he owned and where he was publisher. (Roffman sold The Georgetowner to Bernhardt.)

Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans and At-large Council member Vincent Orange were also on hand. Evans presented the GBA with its own District Council resolution, proclaiming June 15 as GBA 40th Anniversary Recognition Day.
