Breathe Deep DC was started by Jerry Sorkin, a Bethesda father of two, who was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in 2007. With the help of LUNGevity, Sorkin and his friends created Breathe Deep DC, a 5K walk to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer research. Breathe Deep DC provides an opportunity for individuals affected by lung cancer to be with others and to feel the power of a community coming together to remember lives lost and to support those fighting the disease.

Celebrating the reopening of the East Building galleries, the weekend will feature sketching, concerts, tours, face painting and a photo booth.
