August 3: Deadline to Avoid Fee for Georgetown BID’s Holiday Lighting Program

Attention, Georgetown businesses, you have until Thursday to sign up for the lighting program coordinated by the Georgetown Business Improvement District during the holiday season in November and December — if you don’t want to pay any charges.

According to the Georgetown BID, its “holiday streetscape decor is a signature program for the commercial district, making Georgetown one of the most festive destinations in the nation during the holiday season. Last year, nearly 250 properties participated in the roofline lighting, and we want to increase participation. Blocks look better with 100-percent participation, and we would like to start the installation earlier this year to make for a smoother installation, with a three-year commitment from each building.”

“This year’s lights will be on from November through January. There is no installation charge for those who enroll by August 3. Those who sign up after August 3 will be charged $5 per linear foot per address. The fee will increase to $15 per linear foot per address after September 30.”

Hurry up — and email John Wiebenson — JWiebenson@GeorgetownDC.com — or call the BID office, as Wiebenson is out of the office this week.
