Fiesta DC Celebrates Latino Culture (photos)

Held Sept. 16 and 17, the 46th annual Latino Festival, also known as Fiesta DC, is an annual celebration in Washington, D.C., highlighting Latino culture with a Parade of Nations featuring cultural dance troupes, a children’s festival, a science fair, a diplomatic pavilion for embassies and consulates, arts and crafts and international cuisine.

Latinos are the fastest growing group in the Washington metropolitan area, currently comprising 9 percent of the population in the District, with larger communities located in northern Virginia and southern Maryland. The Parade of Nations, Saturday on Constitution Avenue, lasted four hours.

After the construction of the Trump International Hotel at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Fiesta DC organizers this year moved Sunday’s location to the area between 300 and 700 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. This year’s featured host country was Panama.
