Guapo’s Opens at Washington Harbour

Guapo’s, the Tex-Mex restaurant chain which began in Tenleytown almost 30 years ago, finally got its Georgetown spot, its ninth location, today, Aug. 27.

Situated in the former Orange Anchor restaurant — next to Nick’s Riverside Grill, with Fiola Mare around the side — Guapo’s is right in front of the Washington Harbour fountain/ice rink on the ground level, with the Potomac River mere yards away.

With 100 seats inside, 16 at the bar and 40 outside on the patio, Guapo’s shimmers with an ultramodern vibe.

The menu for Guapo’s is getting a bit of an update. “We aren’t messing with the fact it’s Tex Mex but we are bringing [in] Latin American dishes,” Jorge Figueredo, director of operations of Guapo’s Restaurants, told D.C. Eater. “It’s a new chapter for us. Hopefully, the D.C. scene will welcome it.”

Executive chef Nathan Breedlove and sous chef Sergio Galindo are part of the new team, with Elissa Reyna as pastry chef.

The new Guapo’s is at 3050 K St. NW on the Georgetown waterfront.
