Friday Afternoon Armed Robbery; Midnight Holdup Saturday

Georgetown continues to see an uptick in crimes involving firearms — robbery with a gun against persons on the sidewalk or street. One on Friday afternoon, Oct. 23, involved roofers having lunch near 35th and P Streets. Another occurred on 29th Street near the C&O Canal on Saturday night.

On Friday, the Public Safety Committee of the Citizens Association of Georgetown reported: “At approximately 3 p.m. on October 23, on the 3500 block of P Street, V1 and V2 were sitting inside their vehicle eating lunch when S1 approached and knocked on the window of the vehicle. V1 refused to open the window. S1 armed with a black handgun then smashed the window and took $80 from V1 and a white backpack with gray stars and $40 from V2. S1 was last seen on foot in the 3600 block of P St. NW. S-1 is a B/M, mid 30s, 180 lbs, wearing a grey shirt and black pants.”

On Saturday, the Public Safety Committee of the Citizens Association of Georgetown also reported: “Robbery (Gun) in the 1000 block of 29th St. NW. Lookout is for a B/M 5’10” wearing a gray ski mask, a black hooded sweat shirt with red, yellow, and green lettering, black pants, and black shoes, armed with a handgun.”
