D.C. Petal Procession Features Cherry Blossom-Themed Cars (photos)

Since March 20, Petal Porch Parade, presented by Amazon, has brought the spirit of the 2021 National Cherry Blossom Festival and civic pride into D.C. neighborhoods and adjacent communities through hundreds of decorated porches, yards, windows and balconies.

Neighborhoods with the densest number of decorated homes were chosen to be part of the route for the inaugural Petal Procession “mini parades” on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11.

On Saturday, we caught the procession of 10 blossom-themed painted vehicles as it passed in front of the National Archives building on Constitution Avenue NW on their way to visit all eight wards of Washington, D.C. A double-decker Big Bus carrying a brass band led the way. The Petal Procession vehicles, courtesy of Toyota, were painted at the University of the District of Columbia parking garage.
