D.C.’s First Snow of 2022 Is a Wet Kiss

The wet snow of Jan. 3 took the Washington area slightly by surprise — the forecasts lived up to their panicky prediction. The early morning brought little but some cold rain. Then, after 7 a.m., the snow began to fall and caught the region in its heavy, wet snowy grip. Those who drove were challenged by slippery conditions, to say the least. In Georgetown, some of us stayed inside — others went to Martin’s or Scheele’s. It was indeed a winter wonderland. By 4 p.m., the sun was out and helping to melt it all away, but a refreeze was coming. Mayor Bowser extended the snow emergency into Tuesday for good measure.
