Hoya Saxa! Georgetown University Holds Commencement This Weekend


Hoya Saxa! Georgetown University will be holding commencement ceremonies this weekend. Speakers will include Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Sherrilyn Ifill, president and director-counsel emeritus of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Timothy Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics and Sr. Norma Pimentel, executive director of the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley. The speakers will be making remarks at various schools within the university, including Georgetown College, the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown Law and more. 

The Class of 2022 commencement will be Thursday May 19 through Sunday May 22. A special Memorial Day Weekend commencement is planned for the Class of 2020 which was unable to have a traditional commencement due to the pandemic. 

Nearly all ceremonies will take place on Healy Lawn, located just inside Georgetown’s front gate at 37th & O Streets NW. All visitors must follow Georgetown’s health protocols, including being fully vaccinated and wearing masks indoors. 

The Georgetown University School of Medicine ceremony will take place at DAR Constitution Hall, 1776 18th St. NW. In the event of severe weather, Healy Lawn ceremonies will be held at McDonough Arena on Georgetown’s main campus. See full schedules for more details.
