Bermingham RBG Photo Gets Stamp of Approval

A 2023 Forever stamp will honor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933-2020), the 107th Supreme Court Justice of the United States. The U.S. Postal Service called Ginsburg “a passionate proponent of equal justice and an icon of American culture.” The stamp features an oil painting of Justice Ginsburg facing the viewer in her black judicial robe with an intricate white (aka dissent) collar. Art director Ethel Kessler designed the stamp with art by Michael J. Deas. It is based on a photograph by Philip Bermingham, who remarked, “I am delighted to say that the United States Postal Service used my portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsburg … The cost of the stamp will be 63 cents. This may be the most economical way to buy a Bermingham portrait ever!”
