Best Friends Foundation 35th Anniversary Benefit Features Dionne Warwick

Best Friends Foundation held its 35th Anniversary Benefit March 30 at the Four Seasons in Georgetown. The theme of the evening was “Make Music Not Madness.”  Following cocktails and a silent auction, guests at the seated dinner enjoyed a special performance by Dionne Warwick. The young members of the Jumpstreet Band, the Best Friends Choir and the Best Friends Dancers added to the program.

The night featured speakers, including Sen. Thom Tillis, Rep. Debbie Dingell, Former Secretary of Education Bill Bennett, Elayne Bennett, Barbara Harrison and Bill O’Reilly. Marlene Malek presented the Frederic V. Malek Scholarship Award to Best Friends program participant Terrell Webster.

Celebrity auctioneers Tommy Taylor, Jr. and Claude Jennings, Jr. led a live auction.  The evening concluded with dancing.

The Benefit brought together longtime supporters from across the country including members of Congress and dignitaries from both sides of the aisle who share the common desire to give students the skill sets which do not include the madness of bullying, violence and drug use.

The Best Friends Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides data driven educational programs to develop character and teach the meaning of friendship and the avoidance of risky behaviors in our schools.  Best Friends believes that “If we give our children OUR best, they will surely give us THEIR best.”
