The Nats Post-Game Concert Series Presents Lady A
The Washington Nationals conclude their popular post-game concert series Friday with Lady A after the 6:45 p.m. game versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Purchase an on-field pass wristband to enjoy the post-game show up close and personal with the Grammy winning country music trio. More information can be found here.
Get Your Laugh on at “Because They’re Funny”
Head to The Wharf for a three-day comedy festival showcasing BIPOC talent. The event is now in its second year, the event is devoted to promoting entertainment content in the comedy genre that features people of color and works to showcase a new generation of diverse comedians. Last year, the festival brought out over 5,000 attendees. You can purchase tickets to the festival here.
Visit “The People’s House”
The White House Historical Association has unveiled a new three-floor, immersive educational experthe ience called “The People’s House.” There will be spaces and exhibits recreating famous White House sites like replicas of the Rose Garden and Oval Office. The experience will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information on tickets can be found here.
Listen to a Lecture on James Baldwin
This evening at 6:30 p.m., head to Eaton House at 1203 K St. NW to listen to a lecture by E. Ethelbert Miller, an author and literary activist. Miller will be speaking about James Baldwin and how he was a moral voice when our nation celebrated its bicentennial in 1976 when he published the book “The Devil Finds Work.” The book will be revisited and will examine how a writer looks at powerful images of film and how they shape our country’s identity. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with “Fotos y Recuerdos”
The National Portrait Gallery, in collaboration with children’s book publisher Lil’ Libros are hosting the third annual Fotos y Recuerdos Festival on Saturday at the Kogod Courtyard and surrounding galleries. There will be art making, dancing museum tours and book signings with Lil’ Libros authors and storytimes at this bilingual celebration. More information can be found here.
Enjoy Oktoberfest at National Landing
The National Landing BID is hosting Oktoberfest Saturday afternoon. Enjoy brews and bites and traditional German music from The Alte Kumpel Band. Adults are invited to participate in a stein holding contest and there will also be a costume competition. Representatives from Drybar National Landing will be hosting a hair braiding station too. Don’t Miss DC Theatre Week 2024
DC Theatre Week, now in its seventh year, begins today and runs through October 13 with dozens of shows at discounted prices and a free kickoff festival. The kickoff festival is Saturday at Arena Stage. Musicals, plays, children’s theater and more will all be offered at price ranges of $20, $40 and $60. Imagination Stage is Hosting “Winnie the Pooh”
Don’t miss “Winnie the Pooh” at Imagination Stage in Bethesda, running now through October 18. The show is based on the stories by A.A. Milne and dramatized by Le Clanché du Rand and includes music by Allan Jay Friedman and lyrics by Milne and Kristin Sergel. Spend an Evening with Lea Salonga
Lea Salonga, a Tony and Olivier Award-winning singer and actress, is performing Saturday evening at the Center for the Arts at George Mason University. Salonga is best known for voicing the Disney princesses Jasmine (Aladdin) and Fa Mulan (Mulan). She was named a Disney legend by the Walt Disney Company in 2011 and has performed for presidents and royalty. More information on this family friendly performance can be found here.
