Je T’aime, Georgetown: Perfect Day at the French Market

With the sun shining and a lively buzz in the air, the 22nd Annual Georgetown French Market turned Wisconsin Avenue into a little slice of France, full of music, great food and a real sense of community.

The weather couldn’t have been better, warm but comfortable with a light breeze that made walking around a pleasure. People wandered between O Street and Reservoir Road, checking out more than 40 local boutiques, cafés and galleries that brought their best to the sidewalks.

There was a lot to take in—outdoor sales, live music that drifted down the street, a mime and a unicyclist adding a little fun to the scene and face painting that kept the kids happy. Restaurants and bakeries rolled out special French-inspired menus and there was no shortage of tempting smells coming from every corner.

Even though it got really crowded at times, event staff handled it well. They made sure everyone crossed the streets safely and kept the area impressively clean despite the big crowds (a huge thank you to everyone who kept things running so smoothly!).

A big highlight of the event food-wise was (of course) the crepes. The lines were long, but completely worth it. The crepes were freshly made, golden and filled with everything from classic Nutella to savory ham and cheese. They were as beautiful as they were delicious.

The day was one of those days where you could just enjoy being outside, exploring and feeling connected to the city, particularly Georgetown.

Merci, Georgetown, for a really great day.
