Georgetown is more than cobbled streets and flourishing businesses — it’s a community rich in green spaces that offer both beauty and a breath of fresh air. This spring and summer, The Georgetowner invites residents and visitors alike to rediscover several of our neighborhood’s most beloved parks through our brand-new interactive online map feature.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet stroll, a family outing, or a place to unwind outdoors, Georgetown’s parks are a hidden network of natural treasures — and now easier to find and explore than ever before.

Montrose Park, nestled along R Street NW, is a local favorite. With its shaded walking paths, tennis courts, and sweeping lawns, it’s perfect for a peaceful picnic or afternoon jog. Just next door lies the enchanting Dumbarton Oaks Park, a more rustic escape into nature, offering woodland trails and a glimpse of Georgetown’s pastoral past.

For families, Volta Park provides a vibrant community hub with its recreation center, playground, and sports fields. The newly upgraded facilities make it a go-to for neighborhood gatherings and youth activities.

Down by the Potomac, Georgetown Waterfront Park offers stunning river views, wide promenades, and a splash-friendly fountain plaza that draws both locals and tourists during the warmer months. Bring your bike or running shoes — the scenery is unbeatable.

Climb up Wisconsin Avenue to find the tranquil Book Hill Park, where panoramic views of the city and charming gardens await. It’s a peaceful spot for reading, reflection, or a midday break between shopping trips along Book Hill’s gallery-lined corridor.

Tucked into the East Village, Rose Park is a historic green space with a playground, tennis courts, and a popular farmers market that brings neighbors together on Wednesdays. It’s a place where history and community intersect under the canopy of mature trees.

And at the gateway to Georgetown stands Francis Scott Key Park, a pocket-sized park honoring

the author of our national anthem. With views of Key Bridge and the Potomac River, it’s a favorite stop for history buffs and sightseers alike.

To help you navigate these beautiful destinations, The Georgetowner is proud to launch our interactive parks map — now live on our website! This new feature allows users to explore park details, locate amenities, and plan their visits with ease, whether you’re on a laptop or mobile device.

So lace up your walking shoes, grab a picnic basket, or just bring your curiosity. Georgetown’s parks are calling — and with The Georgetowner’s new map, they’re only a click away.
