Another weekend awaits with plenty to do. Isaac Mizrahi will be at Sixth and I, Folger closes its season, and a new exhibit opens at the Capital Jewish Museum and National Gallery of Art.
The National Gallery of Art Debuts a New Exhibit

“Little Beasts: Art, Wonder, and the Natural World” debuts Sunday at The National Gallery of Art. The exhibit will explore the exchange between artists and naturalists at the beginning of European natural history. A collaboration with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History will help display around 75 prints, drawings and paintings next to specimens from nature. Strathmore to Honor Bernice Johnson Reagon

Strathmore, along with Wise Reagan Arts, will present an event in honor of Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon, an award-winning singer, composer, scholar, and voice for freedom who died in July 2024. The event will bring together singers, scholars, poets and creatives from diverse backgrounds who will celebrate Reagon’s 50+ years speaking out against racism and systemic inequities in the U.S. and world. Stop by Sixth and I Saturday evening to see Isaac Mizrahi in concert. The fashion designer turned host, actor and tastemaker will be bringing a comedy cabaret to the venue, along with a six-piece jazz band. More information on tickets can be found here.
Washington Performing Arts’ Hayes Piano Series Continues

Sunday afternoon, pianist Janice Carissa will perform at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Carissa debuted at The Philadelphia Orchestra at age 16 and has since performed with some of the best classical musicians in the world. She will be performing works from Beethoven, Bach, Prokofiev and Rzewski. Following the concert, a brief post-show discussion will be offered. Epiphany Catholic Church Will Celebrate Its Centennial

Epiphany Catholic Church on Dumbarton St. NW will be celebrating 100 years this Sunday with a Jubilee Mass with Cardinal Robert McElroy and Bishop Roy Campbell. After the 10:30 a.m. Mass, there will be a Parish Feast and social gathering. More information on the event can be found here.
Folger Theatre Closes Season with Sexy and Fun ‘Twelfth Night’

Now through June 22, don’t miss Folger Theatre’s production of “Twelfth Night.” The romantic comedy includes pranks gone too far, a touch of revenge, mistaken identities and more. The show is modernized a bit too, with pop culture inspiration, including music cues from Grace Jones, Harry Styles and Prince. More information on how to get tickets can be found here.
‘Chanticleer’ Appears for the First Time at Washington National Cathedral

The Cathedral Choral Society will present the Grammy Award-winning ensemble group Chanticleer on Sunday at 4 p.m. The program will open with “In the Beginning” with Aaron Copland and will also feature an ending with a union between the Cathedral Choral Society and Chanticleer, conducted by Steven Fox, as they perform two emotional choral works. Opening Tomorrow: LGBTJews in the Federal City
The Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum is opening a new exhibit tomorrow called “LGBTJews in the Federal City.” The exhibit will look at the past century of celebration and activism in D.C. Jewish history, D.C. history and LGBTQ+ history and how they all intertwine will be explored through photography, artifacts and oral history. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
Two Events with CAG: Architectural Walk, Concerts in the Park

The Citizens Association of Georgetown is hosting its third annual walking tour featuring historical churches in the East Village of Georgetown. Churches included in the tour are Christ Church Georgetown, Dumbarton United Methodist, Epiphany Catholic Church, Georgetown Lutheran Church, Georgetown Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and Kesher Israel Congregation. More information on tickets can be found here.
