The rain did little to dampen the spirits of the lively crowd under the big lawn tent on May 21 for the 33rd Annual Spring Garden Party at Tudor Place. Co-chaired by Charlotte Grassi Ramirez and Gwendolyn Lohse Assey, the annual fundraiser netted more $300,000. The honoree of the evening was Beverly Jost, who has been on the Tudor Place board of trustees and also been its president.
Tudor Place Foundation Board President Christy Pichichero informed the crowd: “I want to say a special thank you to our honoree, Mrs. Beverly Jost. Beverly’s extraordinary generosity of spirit, dynamism and dedication have been forces of positive change at Tudor Place and all across the many communities that she has touched. We celebrate her, not only for her tremendous service to Tudor Place, but also as a model member of the National Capital Region community.
“Your support and presence here mean more than ever right now. The Spring Garden Party is both a celebration and the most significant annual fundraiser for Tudor Place, contributing over 20 percent of our operating revenue.
“In 2024, Tudor Place had an award-winning year that put us in the national and international spotlight in new ways and allowed us an even greater reach in serving different communities. Yet now, in 2025, we — along with all museums in the U.S. — are facing headwinds relating to grant-based projects and the ability to faithfully relay histories of art and American life.
“Nevertheless, Tudor Place is committed to its mission to serve, value and tell the histories of all communities, to preserve precious artifacts and archives, and to invest in environmental sustainability as we fulfill our motto: ‘America’s Story Lives Here.’ ”
