Lennon Lover, May Pang, Brings ‘The Lost Weekend’ to the O Museum

Former assistant, muse and lover of Beatles legend John Lennon, May Pang, hosted an exclusive screening of the compelling documentary, “The Lost Weekend: A Love Story,” at the O Museum in the Mansion on June 27. The 2022 film provides an intimate glimpse into Pang’s extraordinary life and her distinctive journey through the vibrant music scene of the mid-1970s.

May Pang — known for her close association with Lennon and Yoko Ono during a pivotal and fragile  period in their lives — tells a story of resilience, love and artistic inspiration, capturing a lesser-known chapter of rock history. The documentary not only celebrates Pang’s personal story but offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process, including Lennon’s only solo number one song, “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night,” with words scribbled on a pad by Lennon while watching a late-night television show of Reverend Ike.

At the art-full mansion near Dupont Circle, visitors also had the unique opportunity to view “The Lost Weekend: The Photography of May Pang” exhibition. These images by Pang give the world an intimate and candid look into Lennon’s life during his time away from his wife and while in his relationship with Pang. The photographic collection includes personal moments, studio sessions, casual snapshots, and public appearances. Some depicted the loving relationship he shared with his first son, Julian, and taken at places like Disneyland and Disney World. Fans, historians, and collectors appreciate these images for their candid and authentic portrayal of Lennon.
