‘Tango After Dark’ at Strathmore

This Sunday evening, head to the Music Center at Strathmore for a night of tango led by World Tango Champions German Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi. A cast of eight dancers, two vocalists and a live band will take audiences through an electrifying evening, all set to the music of composer Astor Piazzolla. More information can be found here.
Contemporary Art at the Folger Continues
See the next iteration of Contemporary Art at the Folger with artist Mandy Cano Villalobos. Her gallery talk will be Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. During the talk, Villalobos will talk about her mixed-media textiles and how she creates art from inspiration from the embroidered bindings of the Folger collection and recreates them with items from modern capitalist excess. See An All-Female Musical Trio at the Hylton Performing Arts Center

All-female trio group Soles of Duende will be performing Saturday evening at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The group is based in the rhythms of tap, flamenco and kathak classical Indian dance. The group uses dance and music to highlight their connections despite their differences. The performance runtime is approximately 75 minutes and is great for all ages. The 2026 Black History Film Festival is Saturday

Friday at the Lincoln Theatre, don’t miss a selection of short films celebrating Black History through art, culture, film and music. The event is funded by the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment, The Council of the District of Columbia and Mayor Muriel Bowser. The festival begins at noon and ends at midnight and will include 15 films after 176 were submitted. More information and how to reserve a spot can be found here.
The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington Presents ‘Heart & Soul’

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington is performing at the Howard Theatre this Saturday evening with “Heart & Soul.” The concert will be a tribute to the contributions of Black artists within the American mainstream. Enjoy the Nostalgic ‘Chez Joey’ at Arena Stage

Joey Evans, a slick-talking 1940s singer, is caught between a chorus girl and a baroness with this musical at Arena Stage on now through March 15. The score is all classic Rodgers and Hart, with tunes like “I Could Write a Book” and “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.” The show is co-directed by Savion Glover, a Tony Award winning choreographer, and Tony Goldwyn, an actor, director and producer. Celebrate Lunar New Year at the National Museum of Asian Art

On Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., bring the whole family to the National Museum of Asian Art to celebrate Lunar New Year. Activities are limited capacity and on a first-come, first-served basis.
