60 Years of Jubilation: Washington Performing Arts Gala Raises $680K

The Washington Performing Arts Gala celebrated 60 years on March 21 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library. “Jubilation!” was the theme for this year’s event. For six decades, Washington Performing Arts has been a transformative force in the area, bringing the world’s greatest artists to our stages, providing life-changing arts education to thousands of young people, and ensuring that the power of live performance reaches every corner of our region. This milestone Gala is not only a moment to honor this extraordinary legacy but also a call to action at a time when the arts need champions more than ever.

The evening included a silent auction, cocktails and dinner by Well Dunn, as well as performances from the Children of the Gospel Choir and host and featured performer Ari Shapiro, who was presented by Washington Performing Arts in 2024 with longtime collaborators Pink Martini. Daughter of WPA founder Patrick Hayes, Elisabeth Hayes, was Honorary Chair.

The night culminated in a Decades Dance Party celebrating 60 years of music, memories, and community. The gala raised over $680,000.
