A new season of “The Listening Room” at Evermay continues with “Intimate Jazz.” The concerts feature classical, jazz, Broadway and more, and is presented as a portal to connection and relaxation. Try a Whimsy Workshop at Washington Printmakers Gallery

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., check out a workshop exploring monotype printing at Washington Printmakers Gallery. Attendees will print freeform monotypes and combine materials to create art like hand-painted prints, notecards, collages and more. No experience is needed, and students will need to bring personal, copyright free images for inspiration, items like sponges and stamps that you want to try out, standard sized mailing envelopes so notecards can be sized correctly, and optional thin textured or colored papers or collage materials. Imagination Stage Brings More Delight With ‘Good Morning, Good Night’

Very young children will love the beauty of the world during daytime and nighttime at this show at Imagination Stage. Characters Winnie and August work the day shift, waking birds, putting dew on the grass and more. Strathmore Welcomes Grammy Winner Meshell Ndegeocello

Meshell Ndegeocello, a three-time Grammy Award winner, will be performing at Strathmore Friday evening. Ndegeocello’s songs blend soul, jazz, R&B, rock and more. The tunes also explore themes of personal growth, love and justice. More information on the concert can be found here.
D.C. Food Fundraiser is Happening Sunday

Sunday evening at Moon Rabbit, the RFFK is hosting “A Taste of the Future,” which will bring together D.C.’s top chefs to celebrate youth-driven culinary innovation. Chefs will be led by Chef Kevin Tien, and the multi-course dinner will be inspired by student recipes. Funds raised support middle and high school students and are designed to give healthy and affordable meals. More information can be found here.

Round House Theatre is bringing back their “Teen Takeover Weekend” Friday through Sunday with a weekend of theater featuring you guessed it: teens. There will be a teen performance company of the show “At the End of the World” by Morgan Gould, and the comedy improv ensemble The Roundlings will perform “Mission Improv-ible” an entirely directed, designed, performed and stage managed by teens. The award winning “Blacks IN Wax,” founded by former D.C. first lady Cora Masters Barry, will be Saturday at THEARC Theater. The production has been performed at venues all across the U.S. For this year, Washingtonians who have impacted the history, culture and political landscape of the city will be honored. Bekah Nettekoven, wardrobe director and costumer designer for the Chamber Dance Project, is hosting an evening taking guests behind the scenes of the art of costume creation. She will use her sewing machine as she demonstrates the process of building, preparing and repairing costumes. Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Folger Shakespeare Library and Eudora Welty Foundation will welcome author Kate DiCamillo, who is one of the country’s most loved storytellers. DiCamillo will be delivering the 2026 Welty Lecture, which is inspired by the writing and life of Welty, who was an author herself. DiCamillo is set to chat about her career as an author. The NMWA is hosting a day long festival tomorrow called “Well-Read Black Girl Festival.” The event will center women’s creative practices as tools for shaping cultural memory and seeing a more just future. The festival is presented with the organization Well-Read Black Girl, which is dedicated to bringing the voices of Black women writers to the forefront and making literary spaces rooted in care, community and cultural exchange. Mosaic Theater Company Presents ‘Young John Lewis: Prodigy of Protest’

Beginning this evening and running through May 4, Mosaic Theater Company is presenting “Young John Lewis: Prodigy of Protest” by playwright-in-residence Psalmayene 24. The show honors the late Rep. DAR Museum Unveils a New Exhibit

The DAR Museum will introduce a new exhibit beginning tomorrow and running through the end of the year. “Revolution in Their Words: Penning Independence” marks the 250th birthday of the U.S. and will look at the country’s founding through firsthand accounts of those who actually lived it. It will draw from the NSDAR’s collection of artifacts and manuscripts. More information can be found here.
