Thousands Rally in D.C. for ‘No Kings’ Protest Movement

Thousands gathered downtown on Saturday for the “No Kings” rally, joining a wave of demonstrations across the country. Protesters filled district streets carrying handmade signs and chanting slogans that emphasized democracy over authoritarianism, with the phrase “No Kings” serving as a unifying message.
The crowd was a mix of activists, students and families, many of whom were concerned about what is currently going on in our country, particularly due to the Trump administration. Speakers at the rally addressed issues ranging from election integrity and judicial influence to economic inequality, urging attendees to stay engaged beyond the day’s event.
The demonstration remained largely peaceful, going from the Memorial Bridge around the Lincoln Memorial to the Wahsington Monument. Metropolitan Police maintained a visible presence, closing several streets to accommodate the size of the crowd.
The “No Kings” rally in Washington reflected a broader national movement, with similar protests taking place in cities across the U.S., including Minnesota being the central location. The state is where Renee Good and Alex Pretti were shot by federal agents earlier this year. Bruce Springsteen performed in Minnesota, singing the song “Streets of Minneapolis,” which he wrote in response to the shootings of Good and Pretti.
The first two rounds of the No Kings rallies were June 14, 2025 and October 18, 2025. The first two protests brought out 5 million and 7 million people, respectively. On Saturday, an estimated 8 million attended over 3,000 events all over the world.
