TTR Sotheby’s International Realty has been acquired by Sotheby’s International Realty after nearly four decades of local ownership, according to a Sept. 9 report by the Washington Business Journal.
Founded in Georgetown in 1988 by Wallace Tutt, Jonathan Taylor and Michael Rankin, TTR has grown from a single office into one of the Washington region’s leading luxury residential real estate brokerages. The firm now has 14 offices across the metropolitan area, including one in The Plains, Virginia, approximately 550 agents and an annual sales volume of $6 billion.
TTR principal and managing partner Michael Rankin closed $222.59 million in sales across 47 transactions in 2025, averaging $4.74 million per transaction, according to the WBJ Book of Lists.
“For over 20 years, our real estate advisors have brought our clients exceptional expertise, white-glove service and access to regional, national and international markets,” Michael Rankin told The Georgetowner. “These opportunities will be further expanded under our new ownership structure. It’s an honor and a privilege to work more closely with Sotheby’s International Realty.”
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. TTR’s leadership and staff will remain in their current roles, according to WBJ, signaling continuity for the firm’s agents, clients and local operations.
