A Seat the Table: The Triumphs and Challenges of Black Education
Feb. 4, 2022; 7 p.m.

The African American community during the Reconstruction era witnessed the founding of a number of institutions of higher learning, including Fisk and Howard universities. These institutions have educated generations of teachers, lawyers, doctors and other professionals, among them are some of the most renowned scholars of the 19th and 20th centuries. However, many of these institutions are now underfunded and overburdened. The discussion focuses on why this happened and what is being done to correct it. Registration is required at https://nmaahc.si.edu/.
