D.C. Mondays: Dear Chinatown

April 19, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm UTC+0

Rising costs of living and commercial redevelopment overshadow Chinatown’s cultural assets. The consequence is that aging Chinatown residents are experiencing increased alienation from their neighborhood and younger generations across the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area are losing an important cultural touchstone in the city. Dear Chinatown, D.C. is a project to elevate voices from the Asian-American community and the things they treasure most about D.C.’s Chinatown.

In this virtual talk, project researcher and curator Jenn Low will share more about Dear Chinatown, D.C., and this oft-overlooked neighborhood through stories and social histories.
