Media release for: Free Music: The Illusion of Liberation

September 27
Free

Music is a force of freedom, resistance, refuge and change. Yet in the digital age, where access feels limitless, artists remain bound by an industry that profits from steaming their work without fairly compensating them.
“Free Music: The Illusion of Liberation” challenges the myth of creative freedom within a system built on extraction, and pushes back against the commodification of creativity.
This collaborative music and arts exhibition is led by Michael Bowie of Distrik Kollective and mixed-media artist Khadija Jahmila.
Artwork and an original soundtrack featuring DMV artists will be available for purchase.
