“The View Through my Window” – A Plein-Air Watercolor Class – Online Class at VisArts
April 3, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm UTC+0

“Plein Air” is the French term for drawing and painting outside, usually at an easel. Painter Claude Monet is probably the most well-known artist to work this way, Pictured here is a painting by early 20th-century artist Robert Strong Woodward who did many window paintings.
Nowadays since several people may be in quarantine, or unable to travel to VisArts, you’ll be setting up a place to work by a window in your home and joining us on Zoom. We encourage students from other states and countries! Beginners welcome.
Students will be doing a sketch first in regular pencil and colored pencil, working out the main contour lines, verticals, horizontals, and colors that you see. Then you will set up on a larger paper (at least 11” x 14” ) to use either watercolor pencil or straight watercolors, your choice. We will have a demo, independent work time, and sharing at the end.
Supplies:
Watercolor Paper
Watercolors or Watercolor Pencils
Pencil
Eraser
Instruction will be provided through the Zoom platform. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Once you register for the class, you will be sent an e-mail with the Zoom URL to log in to the class. Please provide a correct and viable e-mail address when registering as this is how you receive your link.
