Peter Spencer allegedly stabbed his father, Harrison Spencer, to death around 6 p.m., Aug. 10, at his family’s home on the 1600 block of 33rd Street NW, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The 32-year-old son was arrested on the scene; he had called 911 to report the homicide. MPD described the crime as “domestic in nature.” Inside the home, police found the lifeless body of Harrison Spencer, M.D., who was CEO of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health and an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Peter Spencer is charged with first-degree murder while armed. MPD did not gave a motive or any further details.
The usually quiet, one-way 33rd Street is one block from Wisconsin Avenue and its Book Hill retail businesses.
On the same day, there was a fatal stabbing in a parking lot outside Children’s Hospital on Michigan Avenue NW. It, too, involved a son stabbing his father.
The Spencer home on 33rd Street is around the corner from where a fatal stabbing occurred on Q Street in 2014 and two blocks east of the infamous Albrecht Muth murder of his wife Viola Drath in 2011, also on Q Street.
