National Night Out in Georgetown, Aug. 2
By August 4, 2016 0 641
•Aug. 2 is National Night Out 2016, “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” On the first Tuesday in August (in Texas, the first Tuesday in October), community members take part in activities that support neighborhood anticrime efforts. Often this is as simple as having a block party and socializing with representatives of the local police department.
In D.C.’s second district, Georgetown University is hosting an evening of free family entertainment, with a game truck, a face painter, a balloon-making clown and a moon bounce. Refreshments will be served. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the campus, 37th and O Streets NW. The contact is Officer Rhonda Hardy, who may be reached at rhonda.hardy@dc.gov or 202-270-2286.
For information about National Night Out activities in the other six districts, visit the Metropolitan Police Department webpage at mpdc.dc.gov.
Now in its 33rd year, National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit organization based in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
