GBA Touts Main Street, Real Estate, Water Taxis

The Georgetown Business Association changed it up a bit and met for its monthly reception at a Georgetown house on 33rd Street — for sale by Long & Foster — on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Listed by Salley Widmayer of Long & Foster, the classic townhouse at 1415 33rd St. NW was open for GBA members and guests. The renovated 1850 federal home will be open on the weekend and is priced at $3,950,000 — with four bedrooms, five baths and a one-car garage.
GBA President Sonya Bernhardt talked about the anticipated approval of a Georgetown Main Street, a small-business marketing program for Wisconsin Avenue that will receive funds from the D.C. government. The big announcement by Mayor Bowser should be coming next week. It will be another strong boost for the hard-working Georgetown business folks, Bernhardt said.
Also coming is a water-taxi service that will link Georgetown and the Wharf by Potomac Riverboat Company and Entertainment Cruises. Generating a low wake, the new vessels can ferry passengers from Georgetown to Alexandria, National Harbor and the District Wharf more quickly. The service from Washington Harbour on the Georgetown waterfront to the Wharf begins on the opening day — Oct. 12 — of Southwest D.C.’s retail and residential marvel.
Also on display and working to please the crowd at the evening event was Bar Ro’d, a mobile bartending service owned by Ro Lin that goes “wherever you want” — in this case, in the back of the house near the entrance to the garage, in earshot of the bells of St. John’s Church.
