This Sotheby’s sale of Important Judaica features textiles, works of art by Jean-Léon Gérôme and Arthur Szyk and ritual silver and metalwork like this monumental bronze menorah from a Polish synagogue. However, the sale is most notable for its rare manuscripts and printed books, including an illuminated medieval Hebrew Bible from Spain (estimated at $3.5 to $5 million), a newly discovered 13th-century micrographic Hebrew Bible from France and a previously unknown copy of the 1519-20 first edition of the German-Rite Daily Prayer Book, printed in Venice.
