For the last three years, the Sunset Run for Refugees has been proud to host hundreds of local runners, joggers, walkers, and families from the Washington, DC community in a special event to commemorate World Refugee Day. In light of the social distancing restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will now be hosting an all virtual run/walk for our fourth annual Sunset Run for Refugees. While we won’t be able to gather at the Reflecting Pool this year, that won’t stop us from uniting as an online community in support of refugees around the globe! Refugee communities need our support now more than ever, and we are eager to come together to empower each other to action in a unique and impactful way.
From June 14th-June 20th, we encourage all of our participants to engage their communities in a virtual run or walk leading up to World Refugee Day and shine their own light wherever they may be. You can choose to complete the 5k over the course of the week leading up to World Refugee Day, or you can do it in one day! Share your achievement! Post pictures or videos of yourself completing the 5k on social media, and don’t forget to use our hashtags! #SRR20 #RunForRefugees #SunsetRunForRefugees
