| National Chamber Ensemble presents a very special virtual Valentine’s Concert featuring the best of the Russian Romantic composers, Tchaikovsky and Borodin. We are proud to keep the music going during a challenging time with our virtual season. As a bonus, each concert is paired with a Zoom Virtual Wine and Cheese reception and live conversation with the artists one week after the performance. February’s Russian Valentine concert highlights the great romantic music of Russia, including Borodin’s String Quartet No.2, featuring some of the most lush and famous melodies of all Russian music, Tchaikovsky’s Overture Fantasy “Romeo and Juliet” as well as his popular Serenade For Strings. A perfect way to spend time with your loved ones. For anyone seeking the perfect romantic string music, this is an irresistibly sweet and lyrical program. It may be over-the-top romanticism but you might find yourself indulging in it again and again.
Alexander Borodin’s Quartet No. 2 was dedicated to his wife in honor of their 20th anniversary and the music is hauntingly romantic. The Quartet is a fluffy musical soufflé, rich and sumptuous. You may know the Nocturne as “And This is My Beloved” from Kismet.
