Join the Smithsonian American Art Museum for a virtual conversation featuring author and professor Alexander Nemerov. Learn more about Nemerov’s most recent publication Fierce Poise: Helen Frankenthaler and 1950s New York (2021). This program is part of SAAM’s ongoing series New Writings in American Art, highlighting new scholarship and publications in the field of American Art. Alexander Nemerov is the Carl and Marilynn Thomas Provostial Professor in the Arts and Humanities and Department Chair of Art and Art History at Stanford University. In 2019, he received the Lawrence A. Fleischman Award for Scholarly Excellence in the Field of American Art History from the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Art. He is also the author of several books, including Soulmaker: The Times of Lewis Hine (2016) and Summoning Pearl Harbor (2017).
