A Star-filled Italian Cultural Society Gala

The Italian Cultural Society of Washington, D.C., held a gala “An Evening Under the Stars” Oct. 14 in the outdoor patio of Trattoria al Volo in Cleveland Park. The highlight of an evening of music, cocktails, silent auction and al fresco dinner under a cloudless and almost full moon was the appearance of honorary guest Laura Caparrotti, who is the founder and artistic director of two Italian theater companies in New York. Her delightful program presented Italian stereotypes from various regions, each with distinct costume and dialect. Caparrotti was followed on stage by Obie Award winner Rocco Sisto, who performed a monologue from Pirandello’s classic “Enrico IV.” The evening celebrated Italian culture and the recipients of ICS’s scholarship awards. In true Italian tradition, no one went home hungry.
