Screening: ‘A River Runs through It’ 

Friday, July 19 

Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center hosts free outdoor movie screenings every Friday through Aug. 30, starting at dusk. Coming up on July 26: “School of Rock.”  

Carly Rae Jepsen at Nationals Park 

Friday, July 19 

After the Washington Nationals play the Cincinnati Reds at Nationals Park, the “Call Me Maybe” singer will give a post-game concert. Admission is included in the price of the game, which starts at 6:45 p.m. 

Home Rule Music Festival, Part 2 

Saturday, July 20 

Gates open at noon at 227 Harry Thomas Way NE for an afternoon of free musical entertainment by artists such as the Experience Band & Show and Bella Donna.

Garden Soirée at Embassy of France 

Saturday, July 20 

Tickets are available on Eventbrite for a garden party of French wine, cuisine and music from 7 to 10 p.m. at the French Embassy, 4101 Reservoir Road NW. 

Latin and African Dance Night 

Tuesday, July 23 

There are still two more chances to participate in free outdoor dance classes from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Georgetown Waterfront, 3200 K St. NW. On July 30: an evening of square dancing with DC Lambda Square.  

Revolutionary War Talk 

Wednesday, July 24 

Dr. Jim Ambuske will speak on “Thomas Jefferson and George III: American Revolutionaries” at 6:30 p.m. at City Tavern, 3206 M St. NW. Admission is $10. For tickets, visit Eventbrite.  

Cuban Salsa Night 

Friday, July 26 

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the newly renovated Folger Shakespeare Library, 201 E. Capitol St. SE, will host a festive evening of food, drinks, poetry, free salsa dance classes (courtesy of DC Casineros) and a performance by the Gerardo Contino Band. 

Mubadala Citi DC Open 

Saturday, July 27 

Nine of the top 20 tennis players in the world will compete at the DC Open, running from July 27 to Aug. 4 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Stadium at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center. Tickets are available at mubadalacitidcopen.com. 

Deschanel and Levi at the LOC 

Tuesday, July 30 

Zooey Deschanel and Zachary Levi will talk about their upcoming film adaptation of “Harold and The Purple Crayon” from 5 to 6 p.m. in Coolidge Auditorium at the Library of Congress’s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 1st Street SE.   

Japanese Whisky Tasting 

Wednesday, July 31 

Kyojin Sushi and Kayo’s Lab will offer a Japanese whisky tasting of spirits from Chichibu Distillery from 7 to 9 p.m. at 3315 Cady’s Alley NW.
