Enjoy the charm and artistry of Duo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki as they paint a soundscape reminiscent of Paris in 1874. This prize-winning violin and accordion duo takes renowned works of chamber music and transforms them with new voicing, sparkle, and delightfully diverse coloring. In addition to this concert, they will perform in the East Garden Court near the Paris 1874: The Impressionist Moment exhibition between 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
About Duo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki
Duo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki is a vibrant and innovative chamber ensemble. The young duo has won grand prix and first prizes at several European international music competitions. They have performed at such major venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall and Guangzhou Opera House, and with the Warsaw Philharmonic, and have presented concerts worldwide.
The duo’s performances are marked by musical maturity, yet underwritten with youthful vitality. Their collaborations with leading Polish composers have produced landmark works. In 2016, Marcin Błażewicz composed the first ever double concerto for violin, accordion, and symphonic orchestra dedicated to the duo. In 2019, they worked closely with master composer Krzysztof Penderecki in arranging his Violin Sonata (1953) for their ensemble. They have recorded three albums, with one nominated for the Fryderyk Prize, the Polish equivalent of a Grammy Award.
