Day With(out) Art

November 12, 2024 @ 11:30 am - 3:00 pm EST

Free

Day With(out) Art is an international day of action and awareness that was first organized in 1989 by a group of artists who were responding to the AIDS crisis. This year, the National Portrait Gallery will mark the day by removing four works of art from its walls and presenting a series of short films that were commissioned by Visual AIDS. Attendees can join curator-led tours of the multisite exhibition Felix Gonzalez-Torres: Always to Return or interact with gallery educators. In the Kogod Courtyard, the museum will present art activities, a table from Whitman Walker Health, an oral history listening station and the DC Public Library Book Bike. Additionally, Whitman Walker mobile clinics and the American University Humanities Truck will be parked outside the museum on G Street.
