A Celebration of Pop Culture at Awesome Con 2016 (photos)

Thousands of comic book lovers, cosplayers, celebrities and lovers of pop culture assembled for Awesome Con, the premier comic and pop culture festival in Washington, D.C., June 3 to 5. The event, now in its fourth year, was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and included more than 200 artists, 300 vendor booths and 50-plus celebrities from sci-fi, fantasy and video games. Cosplayers wear costumes to represent a character from a movie, book or video game. The costume competition is one of the highlights at Awesome Con.
