Historic Dumbarton House at 2715 Q St. NW, headquarters of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, has closed for the installation of a geothermal heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. There will be a few special events held there during the work. The house, where first lady Dolley Madison sheltered briefly during the burning of Washington, is set to reopen April 24.
