President Trump Gives His First State of the Union Address (photos)

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, President Donald J. Trump delivered his first State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. The third-longest State of the Union speech on record lasted just over one hour and 20 minutes, during which the president touted the strength of the U.S. economy while stressing the need for immigration reform and a powerful nuclear arsenal. Reflecting the deep divisions on Capitol Hill, Democrats more often remained seated during the many moments of applause, though there were bipartisan ovations for some of the State of the Union guests.
