While the Greek gods of wind, the Anemoi, were all working together to wreak havoc on Washington, D.C., it did not stop the Greek American humans from honoring four of their outstanding community leaders. The annual American Hellenic Institute Gala, held at the Capital Hilton March 3, brought people from all over the country. Honorees included Nancy Papaioannou of Atlantic Bank of New York, businessman and philanthropist Isidoros Garifalakis, Phil Angelides, former chair of the National Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission and California State Treasurer and Tim Tassapoulos, CEO of Chick fil-A, who earned his MBA at Georgetown University.
