Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna returned to co-host the 29th Annual PBS’s National Memorial Day Concert in Washington D.C., on May 27, the 150th Anniversary of Memorial Day. The annual concert to honor our troops, our veterans, and our military families, features a mix of dramatic readings, documentary footage and live musical performances.

Among the performers taking the stage were returning artists Megan Hilty, Alfie Boe, Charles Esten, Leona Lewis, Cynthia Erivo and Sinise’s Lt. Dan Band. The National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly provided the musical backdrop along with the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets; a mixed services military chorus; and an Armed Forces Color Guard and Service Color Teams provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C.

In a special segment, the concert marked the 70th anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act by paying tribute to the contributions of women in our military throughout history.
