Up on the Roof: Rosewood Celebrates Summer

With its panoramic views, plush sofas and beautiful landscaping, the Rooftop at Rosewood Washington, D.C., has become a cozy haven for those “in the know.”

This summer, the Rooftop — originally only accessible to hotel guests and special members when Rosewood Hotel and Resorts took over the property in 2016 — is now open to everybody.

“It’s so great, we just couldn’t keep it to ourselves anymore,” says Rosewood’s managing director Pascal Forotti.

There are a few ground rules though: no athletic gear or sneakers. Guests should be dressed casually chic. Unfortunately, the roof’s elegant infinity pool is for hotel guests only.

Forotti explains that since the roof opened in May, the flow has been constant between 4 p.m. and midnight, the roof’s weekday hours, especially in the evenings when guests can take in the sunset.

A menu, featuring everything from burgers to salads to charcuterie, is offered as is a full selection of beers and cocktails.

Brunch on Sundays will be available all summer.  The 4th of July barbecue has a waiting list, according to hotel, but is still accepting reservations. The roof will remain open until October.

The Rosewood Hotel D.C., 1050 31st St, NW. Rooftop hours: Sunday to Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight; Friday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. to 1 a.m.
