Body Found in Potomac, July 4


A body was found in the early morning of Wednesday, July 4, in the Potomac River. The location was between the Key Bridge Boathouse and the Three Sisters islands, upstream from Key Bridge along the Georgetown waterfront.

D.C. Fire & EMS tweeted: “Water recovery Potomac River north of Jacks Boathouse. #DCsBravest on scene with a body in the water. We are in the process of recovering in coordination with @DCPoliceDept Harbor Division.”

The unidentified man, with a gash on his forehead, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to WTOP. The incident happened around 7 a.m.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating.
