•Despite the current security measures going on in the area, there are still plenty of inauguration specials in the city. Many places are offering pickup or delivery-friendly items, or hyping up outdoor dining options. Here are some great ideas for inauguration specials to celebrate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons Hotel, currently open for limited indoor dining and extensive outdoor dining, is celebrating with Executive Chef Robert Curtis’s “The 46.” The dish is a 46-oz. bone-in ribeye grilled on an open fire, perfect for sharing. There are also lighter selections like “The First Lady,” a trio of Bourbon Steak’s fries served with a shaken Potomac martini, in honor of Dr. Jill Biden’s favorite combo. More specials: a Cali-style burger topped with avocado in honor of Kamala Harris, an ice cream cone in honor of Joe Biden and a sparkling cocktail called “Major & Champs” to honor the new first dogs.
Tuesday through Thursday of inauguration week, Pizzeria Paradiso is offering “Inaugural Beer and Soda Ice Cream Jubilee Floats.” On Tuesday and Wednesday, antipasto platters will be available for online ordering, takeout and delivery. And, on Inauguration Day only, the restaurant is celebrating with one free scoop of Ice Cream Jubilee Vanilla Chocolate Chip with every pizza ordered online or for takeout.
The Logan Circle cocktail bar is offering delivery cocktails so you can celebrate at home. Special beverages include the “Number 46” with Maker’s Mark 46 and bitter Campari, and the “Dr., Not Mrs.” in honor of the new first lady, a tequila-based drink. “First But Not Last,” pays homage to the new veep’s history-making win.
The restaurant is paying homage to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris with a “Madam VP Heritage Bowl.” The bowl includes Jamaican and Indian flavors, honoring Harris’s own roots. Expect coconut milk curried chicken with chickpeas, potatoes, pineapples, plantains and some spicy peppers, served over turmeric rice and spinach.
If you want to splurge, the West End restaurant is offering a $600 “Inauguration Package,” available Wednesday through Sunday of inauguration week. The package, which serves four, features yellowtail jalapeño, baby spinach salad with grilled shrimp, black cod with miso, a taco box with lobster and tuna and a selection of sushi and tenderloin beef.
