Hundreds Rally on May Day to Protest Immigration Policy (photos)

Billed as the “Mega Marcha del Inmigrante,” hundreds of activists from across the country marched down Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 1, demanding immigration reform for 11 million undocumented, DACA, TPS and essential workers.

May Day, or May 1, is celebrated around the world as International Workers’ Day.

The peaceful march started at Black Lives Matter Plaza near the White House and culminated with a rally on the National Mall. Face masks were mandatory.

In his speech at the Capitol just days earlier, President Joe Biden called on Congress to pass bipartisan immigration reform, including a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. In the overwhelming opinion of those at the rally, this is already long overdue.
