Bourbon Steak is Hosting a Summer Somm Soirée
Bourbon Steak’s Summer Somm Soirée is this Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Enjoy a festive wine tasting experience with wines hand-picked by Bourbon Steak’s elite sommelier team, led by Winn Robertson. Attendees can sample wines and learn why each bottle was selected. Canapes and oysters will be served. More information on how to get tickets can be found here.

Celebrate Dog Day with “Pups on the Patio”
Commentary Social House in Arlington is celebrating National Dog Day with a two-day “Pups on the Patio” adoption event with adoptable dogs from A Forever Home Rescue Foundation on Saturday and Rural Dog Rescue League on Sunday. Each event will be 5 to 7 p.m. with 20 percent of the proceeds going to the rescues. Guests are welcome to BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog) and enjoy food and drinks too. More information can be found here.

Barbecue and Barrels at Nationals Park
The first ever “BBQ and Barrels” event at Nationals Park is this Saturday. Enjoy American rye, bourbon and whiskey paired with barbecue dishes from Stack’s House of BBQ, Due South and Rocklands BBQ. There will also be live music, a cocktail competition, and more. General admission is $75 and includes 12 tastings, one free barbecue sample, live music and access to food trucks. Wish the Smithsonian Zoo’s Giant Panda Tian Tian a Happy Birthday
Giant panda Tian Tian celebrates 26 years this Sunday at the Smithsonian National Zoo at 9 a.m. Spectators can see the lovable bears (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) get their birthday treats live or watch the event virtually on the Giant Panda Cam. It’s been a big year for the Smithsonian’s Giant Pandas — Mei Xiang turned 25 on July 22 and Xiao Qi turned 3 on August 21. It’s the last birthday celebration before the family heads to China at the end of this year. More information on the party can be found here.
