•In two days, one of the most anticipated events of the season in Washington begins its five-day run. The DC JazzFest is celebrating 19 years bringing the joy of music to the nation’s capital.

Wednesday, August 30
Opening Day featuring the JazzDC All Stars
Celebrate the opening of the 2023 DC JazzFest at Eaton DC, showcasing some of the city’s finest jazz talent. The event will be curated and directed by musical director Allyn Johnson.

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Owolabi began her journey as a jazz vocalist at Howard University.
Thursday, August 31
DC JazzFest Presents EJB’s East Coast All Stars
See artists Elijah Jamal Balbed on sax, Flavio Silva on guitar, Pat Bianchi on organ and Anwar Marshall on drums at The Kreeger Museum.

Sokolov is a frontline jazz vocalist, improviser and composer based in New York.

DC JazzFest Presents Gregory Porter
Two-time Grammy Award-winner for Best Jazz Vocal Album, Gregory Porter has earned comparisons to Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Nat King Cole.
Leigh Pilzer Startet
Pilzer is a D.C.-based composer, arranger, saxophonist and educator. She’s played at many area venues, including Blues Alley, Jazz in the Garden and The Phillips Collection.
Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

‘Musicians are Small Business Owners Too’ Workshop
The workshop will be introduced by Kevin Eubanks, former music director of the Tonight Show Band. Lindsay Hicks will run the workshop.
Warren Wolf and History of The Vibes
The multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore was trained on the vibraphone, drums and piano and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.

DC JazzFest at The Wharf
Don’t miss the last day of the festival with appearances by Samara Joy, Vinny Valentino featuring Marshall Keys, Dennis Chambers, Dave Holland Trio featuring Kevin Eubanks and more.
