City Tavern Celebrates Its Past & Future

The City Tavern Preservation Foundation held its annual gala — “Celebrating the Past, Preserving the Future” — on Dec. 1. More than 100 guests attended the elegant reception and dinner at the 225-year-old Federal-period building. Best-selling auction items included a Maine cabin retreat, a day of Georgetown shopping and a “Dinner & Stay” at a Virginia historic inn.

The foundation will be using funds raised from the event “to build new infrastructure and protect, restore and refurbish the historic building so that we can continue to expand our educational programming free to the public including tours, lectures and interactive events,” said City Tavern Preservation Foundation Executive Director Leslie Maysak.

Music by Craig Satchell Jazz & Swing Ensemble ended the evening with dancing upstairs.
