It’s Winter — Why Not Stay on Theme and See ‘Frozen’?
The popular musical based on the movie is back at the Kennedy Center until Jan. 21. The stage adaptation of the movie (which starred the voices of Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell) includes a dozen new songs by the film’s songwriters. It has earned 16 Tony Awards. Don’t Miss the Last Weekend of Georgetown Glow

Free Community Days and Open Studio at the National Museum of Women in the Arts
The first Sunday and second Wednesday of the month are community days and open studio at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. This Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. is Free Community Day and Open Studio is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests are welcome to take the opportunity to explore the museum’s collection and special exhibits. Open Studio involves NMWA educators in studio for free, drop-in art-making projects for museum guests. More information on the events can be found here.
See the Three Kings Day Celebration at GALA Hispanic Theatre
GALA Hispanic Theatre’s Three Kings Day Celebration will be Sunday afternoon. The bilingual presentation is ideal for the whole family. There will be a posada (procession) with the Three Kings and live animals including donkey, goats and sheep that starts at 1:30 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of the theater. Pop in for the Last Weekend of the Phillips Collection’s ‘African Modernism in America: 1947-67’
Don’t miss the last weekend of the Phillips Collection’s first major exhibit to examine the post-World War II connections between modern African artists and American patrons, organizations and artists. “African Modernism in America, 1947-67” includes the work of 50 African and African American artists including Ben Enwonwu, Uche Okeke and more. It’s First Saturday at the National Gallery of Art
The National Gallery of Art is welcoming the whole family to kick off another year with drop-in activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out kid-friendly short movies, art projects, books available to read from the museum’s library and more. It’s ‘Ragtime,’ Baby!
Don’t miss the Tony Award-winning musical “Ragtime” at Signature Theatre closing Sunday. The musical, based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow, follows the lives of a wealthy white family, Harlem musician and Jewish immigrant as they all strive for the early 20th century American Dream. Read the Georgetowner review here. Get Your Last Holiday Fix with DC Holiday Lights
Neighborhoods around the District have decorated their main streets with colorful lights to partake in “DC Holiday Lights.” You can cast your vote on the best light display and there’s even a scavenger hunt for those who want to try to see all the neighborhood iterations. The closest neighborhoods to Georgetown participating are Tenleytown Main Street and Woodley Park Main Street. More information on DC Holiday Lights can be found here.
